Christmas came a day early for all those praying for a trade agreement between the UK and EU, with a deal struck on Christmas Eve. But the news was greeted with relief rather than celebration. “People’s expectations had dropped so low that by then any deal was better than no deal,” says professor Andy Jordan, co-chair of Brexit & Environment, a network of academic experts.
