Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Senior / Principal Environmental Planner / EIA Consultant to join our Environment team in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. This is an exciting time to join one of the UK’s leading development consultancies with exposure to a range of exciting projects and to make a significant contribution to the Environment team by creating sustainable and successful developments for our existing and growing client base.

You will take a lead on EIA project management and co-ordination in relation to a wide range of development types, along with delivering environmental statements and appraisals to programme and budget. Key tasks will include the management and coordination of multidisciplinary teams; writing and editing screening requests, scoping requests and Environmental Statements (ES); auditing topic specialist ES chapters; and liaising with clients, local planning authorities and other statutory bodies. Other planning duties to assist the delivery of wide-ranging consultancy services on nominated projects such as public consultation, monitoring of planning applications and collation of evidence for appeals.

Person Specification

We seek an Environmental Planner / EIA Consultant at Senior or Principal level with demonstrable postgraduate experience (4 + years) in EIA project management and co-ordination, ideally in relation to large scale residential and commercial led development projects. This includes previous experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and thorough understanding of a range of technical disciplines with good knowledge of UK planning processes, UK EIA legislation and best practice guidelines. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree preferably in environmental impact assessment or a related subject and membership of a relevant professional institution.
