UK EUETS overallocation increased in 2006

Excluding power generators, UK firms covered by the EU emissions trading scheme received nearly 15% more allowances than they needed in 2006, according to analysis of figures from the Environment Department (DEFRA). Meanwhile, two separate reports question whether the national allocation plans (NAPs) for the scheme’s second phase are tight enough to drive emissions reductions.
