Paper mill pays twice over for poor pollution record

A paper mill which displayed a "lax and cavalier" attitude to its environmental performance was fined £8,000 in October following a prosecution by the National Rivers Authority (NRA). More seriously for its business, the pollution incidents involved resulted in the NRA refusing its application to increase the volume of its effluent discharge.
