Role Purpose
This job helps to deliver our incident and regulatory compliance role in North Powys.

We are a small team with a big workload and a big part of Powys to look after. We are looking for an officer who can contribute to the delivery of our regulatory work on farms, permitted chicken farms, abtractions and water discharges. The role is both field and office based and you will work with a wide range of internal and external customers.

You will have a big role to play in responding to incidents on the patch. You will need to respond to incidents in a timely, safe manner and take appropriate enforcement action when necessary. You need to be tenacious, persistent and able to build good working relationships from Day 1.

This work is likely to dominate your work load but you may be called on to contribute to other areas within the Environment Team’s remit such as conservation work on designated sites.

We have a vacancy in one of the Environment teams of the South Central area of NRW. The team has a wide range of responsibilities such as water quality, water resources, agriculture, fisheries, conservation and biodiversity.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and professional officer who can work at a fast pace, often to tight deadlines and who is able to effectively prioritise their workload to deliver more for the environment.

Qualifications and Skills

1. A good working knowledge of environment management, agriculture, fisheries, conservation or biodiversity, with focused experience in one of these distinct areas of the team remit.
2. An understanding of how these multi-functional teams can contribute to the sustainable management of natural resources.
3. Ensure continuing professional and personal development, expertise and competence through formal and informal learning and certification.
4. Strong and effective self-management and organisational skills.
5. The ability to influence, negotiate and gain cooperation of others. Experience of dealing successfully with difficult people/situations is important.
6. The ability to use specialised IT systems, such as GIS or NRW customised applications.
7. Able to work well as part of a team.
8. Hold a current full UK valid licence to drive NRW fleet vehicles (cars and vans).
