Could chemical recycling be a silver bullet?
Recycling plastic bottles, tubs and trays is relatively easy. It’s done through mechanical recycling, through which materials are relatively easy to trace and the carbon savings from displacing virgin plastic can be considerable – between 30% and 80%, according to research by Imperial College London.
