Plaudits for Liz Truss for her stint as environment secretary are thin on the ground. There was “never the sense she was enamoured with the role of environment secretary”, a well-placed source told ENDS. “It was clear she wasn’t interested in the brief and that she was using it as a stepping stone to move onto bigger and better things”.
