‘Liquidated nature’: Natural England chief warns of ‘vicious spiral’ of UK decline if environment traded against growth
The liquidation of nature for growth must end, according to the chair of Natural England, who following the chancellor’s announcement of public sector spending cuts has warned that while the regulator wants “to see efficiency”, it needs “sufficient money coming in” to meet DEFRA’s 2030 nature recovery targets.
