'Next attack on nature': Plans brewing to hand protected site decisions to politicians, warns NGO chief

Some in government are “cooking up plans” to move away from science-based thinking on protected site designations, an NGO chief has warned, as a new report reveals that with just seven years to reach the 2030 target to protect 30% of land for nature, only 3% of England currently meets the criteria.
