Investment zones were a key part of the government's growth plans, but have been slammed by campaigners as part of an “attack on nature”. 27 local authorities have now expressed an interest in establishing such zones, but whether or how environmental protections operate within them remain unclear. Not least because the prime minister has today resigned.
