EA chair moots new ‘£10-25 million’ penalties for water companies
The Environment Agency is ‘in discussions’ with DEFRA over the possibility of allowing it to issue £10-25 million variable monetary penalties for environmental permitting regulations offences, far below the £250 million figure previously mooted by ministers, the agency's chair has told MPs.
