First successful prosecution under new peat burning rules
The owners of a shooting estate in the Peak District National Park have been successfully prosecuted for carrying out illegal burning within a site of special scientific interest - the first such prosecution since regulations aimed at better protecting peatland from such fires were introduced in 2021.
