Enforcing regulations alone ‘not sufficient’ to see nature recover, says Natural England chief
While it “would probably help” if government agencies had more capacity to enforce regulatory codes, the chair of Natural England has said the country needs to go “far beyond that” to see substantial nature recovery as he cites the challenge of pushback from the development and farming sectors.
