Treasury consults on ‘mass balance’ approach to bring chemically recycled plastic into plastic tax requirements

The government has published a consultation on establishing a ‘mass balance’ approach to allow chemically recycled plastic to contribute to meeting Plastic Packaging Tax requirements, despite recognising that there is ‘relatively little data available about the environmental and carbon impacts of chemical recycling on a commercial scale’.
