Non-TBT biocide makes headway in marine paints market

The prospects for replacing tributyltin (TBT) as the main biocide in marine anti-fouling paints have been boosted by the US Environmental Protection Agency's first registration of an organic biocide. Meanwhile, a report prepared by Lloyd's Register for the Department of Transport suggests that industry estimates of the cost of replacing TBT paints may be over four times too high.
