First EC priority list of chemicals for risk assessment

A total of 42 chemicals and groups of substances have been placed on the first priority list drawn up by the European Commission under a 1993 EC Regulation on the evaluation and control of the risks of older or "existing" substances. Germany, the UK and the Netherlands will bear the lion's share of the burden of the risk evaluation programme.1
