New international forum on chemical risks management

Officials from 114 countries agreed in April to set up an Intergovernmental Forum on Chemical Safety (IFCS). The body will help to co-ordinate the many programmes under way around the world for assessing and managing chemical risks. Its initial agenda includes action to reduce risks posed by pesticides and a study of the value of toxics release inventories.
