Guilty parties in fertiliser spill now face big civil claim

Two agricultural contractors and a haulage company have been fined for a spillage of concentrated ammonia fertiliser which killed over 50,000 fish in a Cumbrian river. They now face a civil claim for £200,000 from the National Rivers Authority (NRA) to cover the cost of cleaning up the spill and restocking the river with fish.
