Scottish Water panned over ‘unacceptable’ cryptosporidium

The Scottish Drinking Water Regulator’s annual report for 2007 showed a slight improvement in compliance with regulatory standards at customers’ taps.1 Overall 99.76% of the 160,600 samples taken at customers taps complied with the standards - up from 99.66% in 2006. The main causes of failure were levels of coliform bacteria and trihalomethane disinfection by-products.
