Corporate energy saving campaign makes halting progress

Nearly half of larger UK companies now claim to have an energy policy, according to a survey of senior management carried out for the Department of the Environment (DoE).1 The results also show progress for the Government's "Making a Corporate Commitment" campaign, which challenges business to contribute to the UK's efforts to curb carbon dioxide emissions. But one-third of signatories have still to fulfill their pledge to set energy saving targets, and 15% have no plans to save energy in the next 12 months.
