PowerGen's go-slow on FGD

The full environmental benefits of a flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) plant which is being retrofitted to PowerGen's Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station will not be realised because the company is refusing to run the station at baseload. The move comes on top of the company's continuing resistance to installing an FGD plant at its Ferrybridge C station - despite the fact that it was paid for by the taxpayer when the company was privatised.
