EC Commission denounced over eco-labelling delays

The European Commission came in for "ferocious" criticism at the Environment Council on 4 October for refusing to implement the EC eco-labelling scheme, with Member States warning that it faces legal action. The telling off has had some effect. But while a proposal from the Commission to assign the scheme to the European Environmental Agency received short shrift at the Council, it does not appear to have been dealt a fatal blow.
