Plastics recyclers crying out for more bottles

Markets for recovered plastic bottles are far outstripping supply from collection schemes. The shortfall is just over 1,000 tonnes this year but is likely to rise to 4,400 tonnes by 1996, according to plastics recycling organisation Recoup. And shortages on a European scale will increase when leading PET reprocessor Wellman brings on stream an additional 10,000 tonnes of capacity next year.
