IPC guides on non-ferrous metals

HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) has published nine guidance notes setting out its expectations for non-ferrous metals processes coming under integrated pollution control (IPC).1 The notes mark a continuation of its policy shift on upgrading of existing processes, and raise new questions about whether it is taking sufficient account of processes available overseas in setting environmental standards. The guidance is also likely to flush out dioxin emission problems in some parts of the non-ferrous metals industry.
