Worcester incident leads to first drinking water prosecution

Severn Trent Water is to be the first water company to be prosecuted on charges of supplying water unfit for human consumption. The case follows the contamination of drinking water supplies in the Worcester area last April. The prosecution was recommended by the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), which is also pursuing cases against another two companies.
