Failure to train staff adds to Vinamul's IPC fine

Merseyside chemical company Vinamul has been fined £19,000 for four breaches of its integrated pollution control (IPC) authorisations. Two of the offences concerned significant unauthorised releases to atmosphere caused by operator error - but the firm was also fined for the failure of its management to ensure that staff were aware of their responsibilities under IPC.
