Refrigeration businesses fight controls on HFCs

The UK's refrigeration industry is lobbying Government officials attending the first conference of parties to the UN Convention on Climate Change this month not to agree to tighter controls than those already stipulated in the Convention. Companies which have invested heavily in hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) as substitutes for ozone- depleting chemicals fear being forced to change again - and are even opposed to voluntary agreements.
