Regulators queue up to prosecute Yorkshire wool company

HM Pollution Inspectorate (HMIP) and the National Rivers Authority (NRA) are competing to prosecute a Bradford wool processor over discharges of hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) to sewer which have already been the subject of legal action by Yorkshire Water. The discharges are alleged to have caused breaches of an environmental quality standard (EQS) in the river Aire.
