Mounting challenge to cement firms over "waste" fuels

Opposition to the use of "waste-derived fuels" in cement kilns mounted further in April, with the leading waste management business Cleanaway and the Association of County Councils (ACC) calling for the material to be classed as waste. This could force operators to seek planning permission and meet tighter emission controls, and is being strongly resisted by the cement industry.
