Waste minimisation culture begins to take root

The seeds of a new culture of waste minimisation are starting to take root in Britain as a series of regional "club" schemes spring up across the country. The new projects are setting out to show that the success of early demonstration schemes can be repeated with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and across a wider range of industry sectors. Innovative funding mechanisms are being adopted as official sponsorship for demonstration schemes becomes harder to come by - but a range of other obstacles continue to hinder the spread of the waste minimisation philosophy across much of British industry.
