Evergreen: From shoddy manufacture to textile recycling

Less than 25% of the UK's used textiles are reused or recycled - and most of those that are go to the overseas secondhand clothing market. Only a small proportion go back into fibre production - mostly for low-value uses, such as mattress and upholstery felts. But one company from the rag trade, Evergreen, has attempted to make clothing from reclaimed fibres. Financial success over its first four years has been won despite negligible support from high street clothes retailers in the UK.
