MPs sit on the fence in VOCs report

Industry's calls for controls on solvent use to be relaxed have received little support from the House of Commons Environment Committee in a report on volatile organic compounds (VOCs).1 The MPs have backed measures to curb traffic growth, and recommended relatively minor alterations to existing Government policy on petrol formulation, air quality standards (AQSs) and industrial solvent use. But the report suggests no new targets for future VOC emission reductions.
