EC institutions lay down criteria for environmental agreements

The European Commission has agreed to prepare a policy paper on voluntary environmental agreements with industry - but has challenged business to make it an interesting offer before it will take the matter any further. The move was announced at a meeting with the Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe (UNICE) which also heard that MEPs of all political persuasions are deeply sceptical of voluntary agreements.
