Egg on Shell's face over double aquifer pollution

As Shell was making international headline news over the Brent Spar affair in June, it was also due to appear in court accused of polluting a Lancashire aquifer with petrol. The incident allegedly resulted from a leaking service station tank. The case is the first of its kind to be brought by the National Rivers Authority (NRA) - which is now contemplating a second prosecution, also against Shell, for a similar incident on Merseyside.
