Fresh round of amendments to pollution control rules

A new tranche of amendments to the regulations defining the scope of industrial pollution control under Part I of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 were proposed in a consulation paper issued by the Department of the Environment (DoE) on 7 June.1 The main changes are a relaxation of controls on manufacturers of glass or fibre-reinforced products, and correction of an earlier error to ensure that some 30 non-ferrous metal processes are kept under integrated pollution control (IPC).
