Issues for eco-labelling of furniture polishes

A study for the UK Ecolabelling Board (UKEB) has concluded that it would be feasible to establish EC eco-labelling criteria for furniture polishes. The authors, Atlantic Consulting, believe that aerosols using compressed air propellants should be allowed to qualify so as to gain the backing of manufacturers - but this would enable over 50% of the market to qualify, compromising a principle of the EC scheme. Difficulties in comparing the "equivalency" of different types of furniture polish, already encountered with hair sprays, also lie ahead.
