Second major crypto outbreak hits Torbay area

A major waterborne outbreak of the gastrointestinal illness cryptosporidiosis has hit the Torbay area of Devon for the second time in four years. An investigation has focused on South West Water's Littlehempston water treatment works, which was implicated in the previous incident. And this time discharges from one of the company's own sewage treatment works upstream of the Littlehempston intake have been fingered as a possible source of infection.
