NRA urges water industry to plan for drought

In a special report requested by Environment Secretary John Gummer, the National Rivers Authority (NRA) has warned water companies to act now to mitigate likely supply shortages in 1996.1 The report predicts that Yorkshire Water, North West Water and South West Water will have difficulty meeting demand if rainfall continues at below average levels.
