Small fine for plating firm over major fish kill

Premier Plating, an electroplating business based in High Wycombe, has escaped with a relatively light fine of £7,500 after causing a massive fish kill in a Buckinghamshire river. The firm admitted discharging a cyanide-containing effluent to sewer which knocked out a sewage works and forced the closure of water supply intakes on the Thames.
