Plume grounding overshadows Castle Cement's Cemfuel go-ahead

Castle Cement has been given permission to continue burning industrial wastes at its Ribblesdale works in Lancashire, despite evidence that plumes from the kilns are causing health effects and odour problems in the area. The firm has also been authorised to burn Cemfuel at a works in Rutland - and, with the rest of the industry, is now looking to burn scrap tyres and other wastes.
