Tough controls on transport needed to meet particulate standard

Stringent controls on vehicle emissions - and particularly diesels - are needed to ensure compliance with a recommended air quality standard for fine particulates, according to an official advisory panel.1 The panel also calls for substantial reductions in European emissions of acid gases to reduce formation of secondary particulates.
