Timber merchants attack "sustainable forestry" scheme

A commitment by companies to buy timber only from suppliers meeting sustainable forestry criteria laid down by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has become the latest environmental measure to be attacked as a trade barrier. The Timber Trade Federation (TTF) has threatened to complain to the Office of Fair Trading and the European Commission unless the agreement is changed to include other accredited systems.
