Agency issues "scoping" handbook for environmental assessments

The Environment Agency has moved to formalise requirements for environmental assessment of projects which may affect the aquatic environment. It has published a handbook on the "scoping" stage of environmental assessment, and will make available detailed checklists and other guidance on the issues to be considered by developers for more than 50 classes of project.
