DGIII buys chemical industry pleas for deregulation

The European chemical industry has won significant pledges from the European Commission to "simplify" and "consolidate" existing legislation on chemicals. A report from the Commission's Industrial Affairs Directorate, DGIII, has also promised to justify future measures using a three-tier process involving risk assessment, cost-benefit analysis and comparison against rules outside the EC.1
