AEA in the dock for radioactive leak

The UK Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) has been ordered to pay £15,000 in fines and costs after contaminating soil and groundwater with a leak of radioactive effluent at its Winfrith site in Dorset. Other companies in the first round of prosecutions by the Environment Agency include the printers BPC, the textile company Woolcombers and construction businesses AMEC and Wain Homes.
