Agency faces morale crisis over salary proposals

The Environment Agency is facing its first internal crisis. Staff from the old HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP) and former senior county waste regulators have been outraged by proposals which may see their pay cut by up to 20%, even though many have taken on greatly increased responsibilities. The wrangle may have wider implications for the Agency's effectiveness as a regulator.
