Chemical `cocktails' show enhanced oestrogenic effect

New research has shown that mixtures of oestrogenic pollutants can be as much as 1,600 times stronger than the chemicals acting individually.1 The results add weight to suspicions that cocktails of persistent pollutants can impair the reproduction of many animals, and will have important consequences for research into environmental oestrogens.
