Massive water pollution bills loom for two companies

One of the biggest ever compensation claims arising out of a pollution incident is being pursued by Northumbrian anglers against a quarry in Upper Teesdale, Durham, operated by Hargreaves Quarries. The firm was fined £2,000 this month for spilling 4,000 gallons of oil which caused massive damage to aquatic life along a 35-mile stretch of the Tees last October.
