Car industry lashes out at Auto/Oil proposals

Proposals for car emission limits and fuel quality which will take effect in 2000 were issued by the European Commission on 19 June. The prospects for tougher emission limits in 2005 - which would require substantial investment by refiners to improve fuel quality - now hang on the outcome of a second Auto/Oil project.
