Guidelines on global warming impact of refrigeration

New guidelines on calculating the global warming impact of refrigeration equipment have been published by the British Refrigeration Association (BRA) in a move to ensure that comparisons of refrigerants competing as substitutes for ozone-depleting CFCs are made on the same basis.1 A controversial point is that they do not cover emissions of greenhouse gases during manufacture of HFCs - an omission which may distort such comparisons significantly.
